Freezing & storageLiquid nitrogen & serving tips

Why we invest in liquid nitrogen

We use a more costly liquid-nitrogen freezing process to preserve our durian at peak ripeness. Rapid freezing limits the large ice crystals that damage the fruit’s delicate texture.

Ripe fruit first. Careful preservation next. Our durians ripen on the tree, then are rapidly frozen to protect their rich flavor and creamy texture.

At home

Your fruit arrives frozen. Keep it frozen until you need it. Each fruit is sealed separately, so you can thaw one and keep the rest frozen.

Thawing & opening

Thaw in the fridge before serving and follow the instructions on your packaging. Open along the natural seams at the base. Handle the sharp husk carefully; protective gloves help. Call or text us if you need help.

A few useful details

Before your first bite.

Is the durian fresh or frozen?
It is whole frozen durian. We freeze it at peak ripeness using liquid nitrogen to preserve its rich flavor and creamy texture. It ships in an insulated box. Keep it frozen until you are ready to thaw and enjoy it.
How do I thaw and open it?
Thaw in the fridge before serving and follow the instructions on your packaging. Open along the natural seams at the base. Handle the sharp husk carefully; protective gloves help. If you are unsure, call or text us before opening.
Do I have to open every fruit at once?
No. Each fruit is sealed separately, so you can thaw one and keep the others frozen. A larger box can be enjoyed over several occasions.
Can I send a box as a gift?
Yes. Enter the recipient’s delivery address at checkout. Let them know a frozen box is coming so they can bring it inside promptly and put the fruit in the freezer.

Why Musang King

Whole Musang King, opened. Grade AAA.

Which size?

A box for your kind of gathering.

  • 28 lb box, about 2 durians. The smallest box. A simple place to start.
  • 312 lb box, about 3 durians. A little more to share, or enjoy over time.
  • 516 lb box, about 4–5 durians. For family and friends.
  • 727 lb box, about 6–7 durians. A larger gathering or a well-stocked freezer. Keep extra fruit frozen for another day.

Every fruit is sealed on its own, so a bigger box does not mean eating it all at once. Keep the rest frozen.

The care behind the fruit

Peak ripeness.
Carefully preserved.

Our durian ripens on the tree. We then use liquid nitrogen to rapidly freeze the whole fruit, preserving its rich flavor and creamy texture.

Liquid-nitrogen freezing is a more costly process. We invest in it because rapid freezing limits the large ice crystals that damage the fruit’s delicate texture.

Your durian is shipped frozen in an insulated box. Keep it frozen at home, then thaw in the fridge before serving.
